The south has a long history of producing some of the biggest names in the rap industry. When you think of the south, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, and T-Pain may come to mind.

In recent years, the south has produced some of current raps biggest influencers including XXXTentacion, Kodak Black, and Lil Pump.

In modern rap there are many stereotypes attached to Florida artists as they seem to share similar qualities.

A name that surpasses these stereotypes is Miami born, Yung Simmie. The 25 year old is one of the best talents to come out of Florida in recent years, with plenty of tracks to back him.

Simmie got his start on Soundcloud in 2011, where he released multiple projects but perhaps the most notable projects are the Basement Musik tapes.

His first Basement Musik project saw features from Chris Travis, Amber London, and more. Tracks such as Turn Up and Woke up This Morning allowed Simmie to show what he can do on a heavy trap beat.

From there, BigSmokey released Basement Musik 2 as well as Basement Musik 3, each tape better than the last.

Basement Musik 3, released in October 2016 is straight up stacked with tracks. From It Was Me and Rap Michael Phelps, to Fantastic and Full Metal 2, this tape is where Simmie shows why he needs to be taken seriously.

Throughout the Basement Musik Projects, Simmie’s flow steadily improves with each release. Bobbing and weaving his way through any beat put in front of him, Simmie finds his style through these tapes.

Yung Simmie followed up the Basement Musik series with Simmie Season 2, where he continues to shine with tracks Og Simmie and 3 in 1 freestyle.

I could sit here all day and go through each project from Simmie and name at least five tracks from each that everyone should be bumping.

Some of Yung Simmies best work has come in the past year, starting with one of the best diss tracks that has been released in the past few years, Unfriendly Competition.

Reminiscent of Kendrick Lamar’s Control, Simmie disses half of the industry on one track.

Taking shots at Pouya, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Lil Pump, Lil Yachty, Robb Bank$, and more Simmie does not hold back as he unleashes a vicious lyrical assault on anybody and everybody.

My favorite line from Unfriendly Competition: “The hit man, better hope your name ain't on my hit list I don't take L's, I ain't Meek Mill, Sleep for the weak, I can't sleep until I see mills” - Yung Simmie

Simmie’s most recently released track, Easy, is my favorite track ever from the 25 year old.

The track highlights Simmie’s strengths perfectly and is rapped over a slick beat produced by fellow Florida native, HIGHAF.

Simmie has been hyping up his album recently and if his Twitter is anything to go by then the album should be on its way soon.

A March 12 tweet from Yung Simmie:

@275YUNGSIMMIE: “Next album all produced by me with help from my producer friends .......70% Done”

I don't think I've been this excited for a release in a while.

If this album is full of tracks similar to Easy, then we are in for one of the best rap albums of the year.

Some more of our favorites from Yung Simmie: Passenger Freestyle, Full Metal Freestyle, Dirty Money, Shoot Da 3, Kangol.

You can find all of these tracks and more on our latest playlist, Soundcloud Stars Pt. 1.
