Born and raised in Atlanta, this 21 year old doesn’t follow the typical sound that has identified this music hub for the past generation of rap (well, actually trap). Instead, Hitchcock murders each song with the type flow and lyrics that makes your head move like Stevie Wonder’s.
You may have heard Deante' Hitchcock before without even knowing it. He first gained some viral recognition back in 2016 when he posted a video on his twitter of him absolutely bodying the M.A.A.D. City instrumental with the caption “We never said #BlackLivesMatter more all we ever said was we matter too.” In the video, he gives his take on police brutality during a time when protests were at an all time high, expressing himself with lyrics that were absolute flames all while sitting in the passenger seat of his boy’s car. You can check out the video below.

He puts videos like this on his twitter all the time, as they have pretty much become a staple on his account. However, his talent is really on display in his 2016, lyrically packed mixtape titled G.O.O.D.. This project is allegedly part a mixtape series he plans on releasing with follow up tapes planned to be called Better and Best. If this tape is just “good”, I can not wait to see what he has in store for the tapes to follow.
He attacks every track with a silky smooth flow that almost fits too perfectly with the beat. You will go from hearing him spit game to the ladies in “Really Feel” to bumping “Lay Me To Rest” at full volume with his all or nothing grind determination.
Other mixtapes under his belt include Just A Sample and So Much For Good Luck. While these projects are no doubt heat, they are small and include some tracks from other projects, but that’s all part of his style. He doesn’t release often, but he puts everything he has into each track and it shows on songs such as “Ascension” and “Thinking ‘Bout You”.
From watching his pattern when it comes to dropping music, his major releases are very spread out. However, he is still able to keep the hype going in between with these side projects and singles here and there. They’re not meant to define his career, but more act as a message that says this is nothing, just wait and see what’s about to come.

He also has an array hidden gems that he’s released outside of mixtapes as well, with lyrics that top some of the biggest names in the industry. A personal favorite is “Talking to God Pt. 2” which is a listening experience in itself that brings you through his conversation with what sounds like, well, god. But it’s not a back and forth, it’s more of a preach to above asking for guidance with nothing but real lyrics and bars that have you wanting him to just keep going long after the song ends.

My. God. The reason Deante' Hitchcock has so much potential is because he’s a master in more than one area of the art. Some rappers get big off just their sound, some get big off their storytelling ability. Hitchcock has both of these, plus the flow, plus the wordplay, not to mention the recent cosign from rapper Big K.R.I.T.. To me, this looks like a five star prospect who has a promising future in the industry, and with Better expected to drop later this year, there’s isn’t a doubt in my mind that Deante' Hitchcock will be on everyone’s playlist in no time.
